This book features artist Chloe Briggs’s series of fourteen drawings, Playgrounds (2019); an essay by Lillian Davies on the history and artistic development of playgrounds around the world; and a Conversation with Briggs and Davies on the creative potential of playgrounds; as well as a comprehensive bibliography for further reading.

Both raising children in Paris, Briggs and Davies also consider playgrounds as mothers, and recall their own memories of playgrounds they grew up with in the UK, Texas and Mexico.
